The Rules Of Three

There is a thing that everyone who has had almost any survival training has had drummed into his / her head, it’s called the Rule of Threes. An individual can survive for:

  • Three minutes without air
  • Three hours without shelter
  • Three days without water
  • Three weeks without food

The theory behind the Rule of Threes is really a simple one: which means you know your priorities in any emergency situation. In the meals obsessed society we reside in, untrained individuals who find themselves for the first time in an emergency situation, often spend their time playing around exhausting themselves finding resources of food, and suddenly its nightfall, cold, raining, or snowing, and they are dead by morning without proper shelter.
